Batapav Coffee & Eatery

Went here to break my fast before going to watch a show at Balai Resital Kertanegara, which is very close. The place is a small eatery with great atmosphere. It's quite cozy and the decoration features different literary, musical, and cinematic works. I especially enjoyed The Grand Budapest hotel poster on the display board. There is also a Gundam plamo and the can of fruit drops from The Grave of the Fireflies, hinting an appreciation for Japanese media. Considering the many, many electrical outlets and the super chill and friendly staff members, the place feels quite homey already. Oh, it should also be mentioned that the cafe has a lot of cats! Fluffy, well-fed cats. Really adorable. I ordered a lychee soda, a chocolate muffin, and nasi goreng mentega (butter fried rice). The lychee soda is pretty pleasant, as the sourness balances out the sweet. The chocolate muffin is decently moist but it's just lukewarm, if it could be heated up that would make it better. The nasi goreng is decent. It's more or less what you'd expect out of a nasi goreng, with some slices of cabbage and meatballs mixed in. The crackers are disappointing, they're small and mostly a bit tough. Overall, great cozy atmosphere but so-so food. If I were going to watch another show at Balai Resital Kertanegara, I'd definitely consider stopping by again. Hopefully the other menu items are better.

Homey, comfy, good coffee. The music adds perfectly to the atmosphere. It was raining when I came, so so lovely. Great for work or just spending the hour winding down and enjoying the green-woody view. Plus they have cute cats hanging around the area. I’ll definitely go back!

The coffee and the ambience are perfect for getting work done: it's quiet, chill, and they have some cute cats that'll keep you company while you work, one of them is Chiki.

Despite the area where this coffee shop is placed, the price of their food and beverages are not that pricy. Additional remarks: Batapav is like a mini library. You can read books (fiction and non-fiction) and there are a lot of cute collectibles that you can see and take pictures with. All and all, Batapav is just a great coffee shop to have a relaxing day in.
